Pattaya Bikers go to Singapore from 3 - 19 October 2010

Sunday, 3rd October 2010 - Pattaya Bikers organized a 16-days “Ride for Peace” campaign with the starting point at Hard Rock Cafe Pattaya, riding all the way down-south to Singapore and back. Along the journey, these riders would stop over at Hard Rock Hotel Penang, Concorde Kuala Lumpur (To attend the MotoGP in Sepang) and Concorde Hotel Singapore as well. This ride also is in support of Hard Rock ‘PINKTOBER 2010 Breast Cancer Campaign’ and to raise awareness and knowledge on breast cancer.

Khun Ronnakit Ekkasing, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya was the Guest of Honor and presided over the opening of this “Ride for Peace” campaign.

Affordable Luxury: Pattaya’s Exclusive Serenity Yacht Tour

Experience some of Thailand’s most beautiful islands amidst pristine maritime surroundings whilst relaxing in affordable luxury on the exclusive Serenity Yacht. Based out of Pattaya’s private Ocean Marina off Sukhumvit Road in Jomtien, Serenity Yacht tours operates public and private island tours like no other in the region.

The 8 hour full-day tour departs from ocean Marina at 9:30am for the uninhabited island of Koh Rin (Tongue Island), approximately 45 minutes due west of Jomtien Beach. The island of Koh Rin features an undisturbed natural beach with a variety of coral clusters and ocean habitats for the avid snorkelers, although you have to be wary of the vast amount of potentially dangerous sea urchins on the seabed. The Serenities motorised dingy is available to take passengers to-and-from the yacht whilst snorkelers are encouraged to launch off the vessel to avoid the lurking sea urchins. Following approximately 2 hours of unabated frolicking in the sea or relaxing on the boat and beach, an extravagant Thai style BBQ buffet is provided by the yachts helpful staff before the tour departs for the Island of Koh Khram.

Koh Khram (Aqua or Light Blue Island) is another uninhabited island, used by the Royal Thai Navy as a test and exercise grounds. The island encompasses some of Thailand’s most spectacular shallow coral reef formations, merely meters from the pristine white sandy beach. Once again, snorkelling enthusiasts are amply catered for, whilst fishing rods and bait are provided for the eager fisherman and woman with a variety of species available for strictly catch and release purposes. Certain times of the year the island of Koh Khram is restricted to the public as it is a natural breeding ground for the sea turtles that inhabit the deeper oceans of the Gulf of Thailand, the coral reefs off the coast of Koh Khram are a nationally protected maritime environment.

Next stop on the tour is the island of Koh Ped literally translated as Duck Island, although there is not a duck in sight there are monkeys abound. Koh Ped or perhaps more appropriate, Koh Ling (Ling meaning monkey) has a resident population of Thai Samae monkeys, but once again no human inhabitants. A ramshackle sun shelter and worn down mermaid statue adorn the coastline along with thousands of monkeys, who often swim out to the boats to receive food or scavenge what they can find. The dingy ferries passengers to the island, where an offering of fruit and vegetables are given to the monkeys, whilst tourists are free to pose for photographs and play with the lovable primates. Due to the monkeys over population of the island a natural, self sustaining food source is no longer present on Koh Ped; as such they are solely reliant on the tour boats as a source of food at present, whilst conservation strategies are being discussed.

Following the feeding of the monkeys on Koh Ped the Serenity begins its homeward bound journey to the Ocean Marina passing the scenic beaches of the Sattahip region and Bang Saray to conclude the fun filled day of island explorations.

The Full day exclusive tour departs the Ocean Marina at 9:30am returning by 4:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. The price for a day of luxury paradise island hopping is an extremely affordable Bt3,800 per person, children 3-12-years-old Bt1,600, infants under 3-years-old admitted free. All prices include meals, refreshments and equipment use. Private tours are available by booking for a minimum of 25 people. Prices start from Bt85,600 (25 people) for an 8hr charter, additional charges are required for between 26-60 people.

School’s out, fun’s in at Centara Beach Resort Pattaya

Centara Hotels & Resorts is organising a number of extra children’s activity programmes for families staying at Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya during the October 2010 school holiday season.

The all new Kids’ Holiday Camps, which are offered at a nominal cost of THB 500 per person, are designed to keep the youngsters between the ages of seven and 16 years busy and happy under the care of professional supervisors while their parents relax.

The programmes are being offered throughout the month of October and take place every week over a three-day period from Friday-Sunday.

Meals and refreshments are provided and the youngsters receive gifts of caps and certificates for completing the programmes.

Registration takes place during each Friday afternoon, with the participants then taking part either in rock-climbing lessons or activities in the pool. On Friday evening after dinner the youngsters are given tennis lessons, followed by a competition.

Saturday morning sees a sailing workshop for the elder children, while the younger ones take part in a treasure hunt, followed by mask making. During the evening they are given lessons in juggling, followed by a performance for their parents.

 

On Sunday morning the elder participants are taken sailing, while the younger ones enjoy a sand castle competition. This is followed at mid-morning by the gift and certificate presentation and farewell from the hotel’s sports team.

Centric Live @ Hard Rock Cafe Pattaya

Please welcome our new in-house band - CENTRIC. This group comes all the way from U.S.A. to rock with us for next few months, with their blend of pop, rock, R&B, dance, hip-hop and other funky sounds!  Originally from OHIO, Centric is lead by Peter Ahn (Bass), collaborating with Charles William Grigsby Jr. (Lead Vocals), Jocelyn Rosales Cortez (Lead Vocal), Antoine Levar Dunn (Keyboard) and Travis Darnell Payton (Drums).

Peter Ahn began his lifelong pursuit of music at the age of 5 by first playing the piano. From this foundation, he learned other musical instruments until he settled down with the bass guitar from the age of 13. As a bassist, he has recorded several albums and has toured around the USA with numerous artists such as Victor Wooten, Bernie Worrell etc. Peter continues to grow musically, and absorbs all that’s around him with an open mind. Pete’s touring experience started from Le Meridien Jakarta, moved on a grand tour of the Grand Hyatts Singapore, Erawan (Bangkok), Seoul and Taipei, as well as the Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Charles Grigsby has the unique gift of voice added to his love of music. He started with the school choir, and continued to chase his dream by entering American Idol in 2003. He impressed Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, who saw the ‘Diamond in the rough’ and sent him to the finals in Hollywood. Unfortunately, Charles suffered from a debilitating stomach virus and did not win, but this had also something to do with the tough competition by Ruben Studdard and eventual winner Clay Aiken. Charles was voted off but that just the beginning the musical career.

Jocelyn R. Cortez has been involved with music and singing all her life and loves of challenge of learning all styles of music from different cultures and languages.     She started entering singing competitions from the age of 6, and continued her musical career by working with several bands and performing overseas in Middle East and Asia. So far, she has sung in Malaysia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Morocco.  This is her first trip to Thailand. 

Antoine L. Dunn is multi-faceted artist. Apart from being an accomplished vocalist, pianist and songwriter, he taught himself to play the drums and base guitar as well.  Antoine was awarded the Best Soloist Award at the National Musical Showcase in 2002 in the US.  His journey continued as a member of a Cleveland Heights High School choral group throughout the US, He received vocal production credits on Lakisha Jones’ debut album, yet another finalist from American Idol, from 2007. Recently he was hired as a songwriter for Dallas based-company Love song for sale, in March 2009. From his professional talent, Dunn is ready to rock the world for further challenges, opportunities and continued growth.

Travis Payton, drummer, has a powerful percussion style and has been a prominent figure in the music business since he began playing at the age of 5. Travis started by playing drums for local churches and with his family’s encouragement, he continued to further his career as a drummer and musical director throughout the community. Travis has traveled with national recording artists Rude Boys and Men At Large including appearances on Black Entertainment Television. Travis joined the band and performance started from September 2008 for Grand Hyatt Seoul and Taipei, as well as Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

CENTRIC plays live nightly from 9pm till late except on the weekends, when they start rockin’ at 9.30pm. On Wednesdays, it is their rest day and our in house DJ will cover with his selection of funky tunes.

The band added: “We love Thailand, and we love Hard Rock Cafe, and this is a great opportunity for us to share our funky music with the people of Pattaya! “ Peter remarked:  This is my second time back to play in Thailand, and Pattaya is definitely more chilled out than Bangkok - I am looking forward so much to enjoying again this cool country and partying in Pattaya!”
